Perform file-level restore

IDrive BMR lets you access and restore the backed-up files and folders of your physical machines via network-mounted shares. Here, the network share is created using the SBM / CIFS protocol. As SMB protocol is used by Microsoft Windows platforms, you can easily access the network shares on any Windows machine in the same network. For Linux and Mac machines, however, you will need an SMB client to access the share.

You can perform point-in-time recovery of backed up machines. During the restore process, you need to select the particular drive along with the recovery point where the data was backed up, to perform the bare-metal restore.

To create mount paths or file-level recovery point access,

Go to Restore > File Restore.
Select a client from the Choose System drop-down menu.
Select a recovery point from the Choose Recovery Point drop-down menu.
Select the volume.
By default Enable user authentication will be selected as No. This will create an open share that is accessible to everyone on the network.

To create a secure share,

Select Yes.
Select the username from the Mount username drop-down menu.
Enter the mount password.

Note: Password configuration is a one-time process for the share and cannot be edited.
Click Create.
A summary for the selected computer will be created in the Mount Path Summary table. You can use the path displayed under Mount Path to access your backed-up data.

Note: You can create up to 5 network shares for physical machines, irrespective of the authentication type selected. The details of the recovery point will be displayed in the Mount Path Summary table.
