Purpose
View logs for all virtualization restore activities, both local and cloud, performed on the IDrive BMR device.
Description
View the logs for your physical or VMware virtual machines in the respective tab under Logs. Navigate to the sub-tab Restore Logs to view the local virtualization logs of your machines. The restore logs of the virtualized instances will provide details such as the success or failure of the session. It will also display information related to powering on, off, and deletion of the virtual machines.
View restore logs for virtualized physical machines (Local and cloud)
To view logs for virtualization of your physical machines,
- Sign in to the IDrive BMR device web interface and click Logs.
- Click on the Physical Machines tab.
- Navigate to Restore Logs to view the virtualization logs of your backed-up physical machines. You can use the search bar to look up the entry of a specific virtualized machine.
The restore log displays the following parameters for the virtual instances of your backed-up physical machine:
Time - The date and time of your recent activity during the virtualization of the client.
Hostname - The assigned computer name of the physical machine.
Type - The type of restore activity performed, whether it is local or cloud virtualization, file restore, or system restore.
Status - The status of the recent virtualization, backup, and file restore activity.
The Status field shows the following messages:
- Success - If the virtual instance is created successfully without any error.

Failure - If the virtual instance is not created due to some issue.
Info - Brief information regarding the recent activities of the machine. This is useful for analyzing failures and other issues.
View restore logs for virtualized VMware machines (local and cloud)
To view logs for virtualization of your VMware machines,
- Sign in to the IDrive BMR device web interface and click Logs.
- Click on the VMware tab.
- Navigate to Restore Logs to view the virtualization logs of your backed-up VMware machines. You can use the search bar to look up the entry of a specific virtualized machine.
The restore log displays the following parameters for the virtual instances of your backed-up VMware machine:
Time - The date and time of your recent activity during the virtualization of the client.
VM Name - The assigned computer name of the virtualized machine.
ESXi / vCenter - The ESXi host or vCenter server that contains the VMware virtual machine.
Type - The type of restore activity performed, whether it is local or cloud virtualization, file restore, or system restore.
Destination - Specifies the location where the virtualization process has taken place.
Status - The status of the recent activities of the virtualized machine.
The Status field shows the following messages:
- Completed - If the virtual instance is created successfully without any error.
- Failed - If the virtual instance is not created due to some issue.
Info - Brief information regarding the recent activities of the machine. This is useful for analyzing failures and other issues.
Note: Since IDrive BMR doesn’t support backup for virtualized VMware machines, under Restore Logs you can only view the time and status of the local virtualization of your VMware virtual machines.
Save logs
The logs can be saved in CSV, Excel, and PDF formats for reference. Click Export in the respective tabs and select the required format from the drop-down list to download and save the logs in the desired format. You can also Copy the logs to the clipboard or Print the logs straight from the device interface.
